Grateful… (the @ARCH_PH and @archuletaphils Year-end GT)

Kamusta dear Archies!

Yesssss…you are seeing this…We are up and running still…After months that we have been busy of our life’s priorities and responsibilities (family, work, school, finances, even love life *ehheeem..hehe), December is put at the end of the year for a reason — time to reflect, be grateful and be merry!

Everyone surely had their share of not so good stuff this year, but that ain’t a reason not to get away for a day and be with our fellows. 2014 have been a year of challenges to us, individually and as one country. As we come to a close, it is also the time to be grateful of blessings we might seem not to notice. Every year, ARCH has been celebrating the festive season with various causes and for various groups who deserve our pay it forward moments…

This year, we are doing it with a bit of a twist.

While our inspiration, the Archuleta is doing his stuff — for himself, loved ones and for the church, we’ll do the same. Our pay-it-forward moment will be for each other — chillax with our fellow Archies. And since being a David Archie fan (no matter how busy we are for other priorities) is something innate, of course, we aren’t forgetting his special day. It’s gonna be a day of fellowship, of what our lives have been this year 2014 and what we are looking forward to (individually and as part of ARCH) this 2015!!!

Mark your calendars, Dec 30 2014 (Tuesday and A NON-WORKING HOLIDAY ‘to ha…hehe). A few deets will be given within the week.

Basta Archie fan at gustong maglaan ng oras para sa isang simpleng reunion ay pwedeng sumali (isang bansa, isang lahi lang tayo, di ba?)…

As what we always say, SAVE THE DATE and SPREAD THE WORD!

#RiseFor2014 Recap — The @ArchuletaPhils @ARCH_PH Year-end Activity and @DavidArchie Birthday Celeb

First and foremost, why Rise for 2014? and why the hashtag?

The verb rise can connote a positive action…to rise from hardships and tragedies. 2013 is a year of challenges especially to us Filipinos, from politics to natural calamities to man-made hardships. And as we head on to 2014, it’s time to rise up again and make our future brighter and better…The hashtag? Well, this year most trending topics or words were always included with a hashtag; thus, better trend something positive, right?!

As most in our country celebrated their parties in simple fashion (but still with the Filipino vibe and energy), ARCH and Archuleta Philippines decided to be one with them too. Not failing to mention as well that most of the folks from our groups are currently busy bees with work or school or family bonding activities (given na Christmas season ito…). Times may have changed, but the thought of giving back for our fellowmen and celebrating the birthday of the man (yessss…he ain’t a kid anymore!) who inspired us to be here, remains.

Our AM activity began with heading off to one of the foster homes of Virlanie Foundation in Makati City. The foster home we visited comprises of kids ages 6-14. The program started with little introducing moments from the kids and the ARCH and AP folks, followed by some art activity with the kids. Thanks to the coloring books and activity books given by our fellow Archies, the kids were able to show to us their art skills.

After that, they watched “How to Train Your Dragon” via DVD while their snacks were served.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Lastly, before the team left, the kids were given with their gifts (toys, books, school supplies and food). Apart from these, some donations were handed over to their foster parents that can be utilized in their home.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

In afternoon, it was our turn to spend time for some get-together, bonding moments and celebrate David’s 23rd birthday.

Lunch was served c/o Amber and of course, the Filipino way to treat on birthdays — pancit malabon (for long life), pork barbecue, lumpiang shanghai and the infamous pichi-pichi (well, one of those must-tries in Amber ^_^).

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Game? Very simple but with a Pinoy touch — of course, the ever famous game nowadays, Pinoy Henyo! A game wherein you have to guess the word on your head by asking questions while your partner would just answer yes, no or maybe…And yessss, patok pa den sya (wag KJ and as if…hehe).

Jayson (@jheizenne) guessing the word "dila" (tongue)...well, the words are David related btw ^_^

Jayson (@jheizenne) guessing the word “dila” (tongue)…well, the words are David related btw ^_^

Raffles and Giveaways? Hmm…will we ever break this? Most likely, not! They consist David stuff and non-David stuff…What’s the non-David stuff? POPCORN from Chef Tony’s and chocolates (scratch off the calorie count for now…lol)

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

And, are we going away with the traditional cake??? AYYYY…Much more hell, NO! But this year we did a twist… Since every year, we were having slight dilemmas with the fans how to eat the face of David imprinted on the cake…We decided to just stick his photos on the cake. And settled, everybody ate without the guilt…haha…

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Exchange gift giving? Filipino style we do have one this year…and the challenge — the 50-to-100PHP challenge.

As usual, we had the liberty of chats and laughs in between making a simple celebration fun and meaningful…A few announcements were also made…Now for this last statement we mentioned, kindly wait for it as we will post in less than a week!!! This is gonna make you guys giddy…

For now, before we wrap this up, just need to post some thank you’s to the ff:

Nareejo (@nareejo) – donations to Virlanie (basic needs, medicines and toys), foodies during the PM activity, LDS Magazine

Lorms (@lorms) – food for the AM activity, venue for the PM activity, Teens Magazines (SG)

Tita Ditas (@jackryan4DA) – cake from Estrel’s, raffle prizes

the twins Joy and Jenny, Tin (@euphorictin), Azhen and Glen – activity books and school supplies for the kids

Carla – ang masugid na emcee (amidst the sickness mode) and for the game’s prizes

Should we have missed any who should be acknowledged and included in the list, please let us know and we would do the necessary amendments ^_^. Of course, to all who joined us, THANK YOU!!! For the rest, we hope to see you again guys soon…

So before we put 2013 to a close and welcome 2014, we wish everyone, have a HAPPY, BLESSED AND MEANINGFUL NEW YEAR! Better days to come and keep that generous and caring spirit in all of us, not just during David’s birthday but everyday! And lastly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID ARCHULETA! David, we love you to bits! We missed you badly and we are soooooooo amped up and ready for your return in 2014!!!!

#RiseFor2014 Updates — Virlanie Foundation (as of Dec 23)

Every year, ARCH and you, our dear Archies, have always joined together in activities that bring out the generosity and care apart from just being mere fangirls and fanboys. Even in the times of challenges sprung by calamities in our country, we keep the spirit of giving and sharing inspired by our idol, David Archuleta.

This year, 2013, amidst time constraints (from our individual responsibilities — eg. studies, work, personal, families, etc), we are keeping the faith and that spirit going. As we all know, Christmas season is the most wonderful time of the year and most anticipated, especially by children.

Our activity in the AM will be focused on the future of this nation; thus, we named it Rise for the Youth…We are gonna treat kids from Virlanie Foundation a little of our time, efforts and treasures. I’m pretty sure this foundation is a familiar name to you. To give a bit of a background, years back, ARCH comprising of some of our fellow fans from Archuleta Philippines did a charity event with them. This time, we are revisiting and giving back to them…

We got various activities allotted for them, as we become big brothers and sisters even if it’s only for a few hours…Hope you can join us and let’s share and give this Christmas season and bring smiles to these kids 🙂

However, please bear in mind there is a contribution of PHP300/pax for the food and transpo…We’ll update you on this part…But for now, whether you are joining us in the AM-PM or PM only, let’s be fixed first to prep the PHP300 amount ^_^.

In addition, this will be the start of our countdown to David’s return from his mission in Chile! Indeed, there are so many reasons for us to partyyyyy and to rise for 2014.

The Archukid Moments — AP and ARCH year end GT and David’s 22nd Bday Celeb

We are hours away here in the Philippines in ushering 2013 and I’m sure everybody’s prepping up…But of course, yours truly is making this one of my multi-tasking activity…Here’s a recap of our activity last Dec 29 2012.

AM activity with the kids of Bahay Maria

Last year, we planted trees. This year, it was a time spent with kids of Bahay Maria. In a nutshell, the kids taken care in the institution are the ones who have either been abandoned by their families or abused. We were excited, but at the same time didn’t know what to expect or how will the kids react upon our visit. Apparently, grateful that the kids immediately jelled with us. There were games wherein the kids got the chance to join with their big ate’s and kuya’s. After the games, some of the kids sang songs and of course, one was from our very own [pinaghandaan ang peg!] David Archie’s “Crush”!

game time!

They also did a performance for the Archies with some Christmas songs. It kept us smiling the whole time seeing they were doing it in performance level…and also the one who acted as Mama Mary — super concentrate talaga sya!

good job kiddos!!! ^_^

After the performance, it was eating time and gift giving for the kids [with toys, clothes and some school supplies]. For the Archies, it was a life changing and fulfilling experience seeing how these kids appreciated such simple things and that they felt they were special and not neglected. The joy was overwhelming knowing that you get to extend and share your blessings for those who need it.

PM with the ARCH and AP fellows — David’s 22nd bday and Year end GT

Of course in the afternoon, it was our quality time with fellow Archies. Lunch were David Archie faves — pad thai and chicken and jelly [sandwiches on the side!].

After lunch, it was time for some games — hilarious results really! The Santa Claus Dress Up game and the Pin Santa’s Moustache [both were simple games] but suddenly became life changing for some Archies…haha…Better ask those who attended how did that happen ^_^

Raffle was also part of the afternoon activities and this one was a killer for some. There were the lucky ones that day but definitely, no one went home empty handed. Alongside this, there were giveaways for the Archies — cute notebooks [ with David’s pics and lyrics of his songs], Nandito Ako pillows and Begin posters — credits to TV5 for the pillows and Ivory Records and Astroplus for the posters!

It has been a yearly tradition [since we started celebrating David’s birthday] to have the cake, singing Happy Birthday, cake slicing with fashion and then ending up with multiple thoughts if we should eat the cake [cause we just feel it’s better to have it kept that way…hehe]. So here’s the cake for David’s 22nd!

would you ever try to taste a part of that pic? *wink* =p

would you ever try to taste a part of that pic? *wink* =p

Before we close this post, we would like to give credit to some people who made this possible:

@nareejo, @jackryan4DA, @lorms, @ascphil, @kricket_rc234, @therandomPinay — for a lot of stuff from donations to raffle prizes and organizing…

TV5 Manila, Ivory Music and Astroplus — giveaways

Bahay Maria — for welcoming us into your home and for the kids who have put a smile on us Archies that day

One Gateway Place [admin / staff] — for the accommodation for our afternoon party

For some names we might have missed to thank, apologies in advance and give us a message so we could properly credit your efforts.

Of course, to all the Archies who joined us in the whole day activity and who also gave donations to the kids, a BIG THANK YOU!

Overall, 2012 has been a good year to all of us Archies. Though it saddens us that this was the year David started on his hiatus for a mission, we still consider it as a blessing that he didn’t leave us just that. He still gave his time and his efforts for us — David’s 38 days in Manila, Forevermore album, Nandito Ako, Begin album. He made us join hands together and made us comfort each other as we move on in the next year still missing him and living what we learned from him — the giving and the sharing to make this world a better place to live in.

As we usher in the New Year 2013, let us be grateful that we Archies have each other and for all the blessings [big or small] we have received in 2012. We hope whatever wishes or goals to achieve will prosper this coming year. We also hope that we come and join hands together as we prepare and welcome back David by 2014!

To all our fellow fangirls and fanguys across the world, HAPPY NEW YEAR ARCHIES!

ps. How did you make a difference in a person’s life this year inspired by David Archuleta or during his recent birthday? Should you have done stuff like what we recently did, give us a buzz and let us know.

another ps: more photos to be posted on our ARCH FB page ^_^

ARCH Alert: PABLO Aftermath

While we are prepping up for our upcoming project for the 29th December, we need to squeeze for this time being a very important and urgent announcement.

It has been all over the news the past week that typhoon “Pablo” has hit our country specifically in the Mindanao area. Now, we have been seeing how it affected so much of our fellow Pinoys — worse, how some of them would have to bear starting all over again.

In this plight, we are proceeding a very urgent fund drive at the moment to be able to help in Mindanao. To all our fellow Archies across the archie-pelago, for this time being, our fund drive will preferably be in cash. This is so that we can transmit our help faster as the total amount will be used to buy relief goods directly in Davao and can be delivered faster to those least given out with aids. Currently, Baganga is one of the places in Davao Oriental that have been hit badly and the least dropped off with relief. An added factor is that vehicles  (even trucks) are having a hard time to travel. This will be spearheaded by our fellow Archie in Davao, Kricket Mangui-ob and her family. Thanks to them, amidst that they were also affected with the aftermath, they will be doing the distribution in behalf of all of us here…

So how can we help???

You may send your cash donations in two ways:

1. Bank Account

Union Bank

Eon Account # 4404 5201 5213 2123
MERCEDITAS YUTUK

2. Paypal Account

We will be updating the total amount that we would be able to collect for donation thru our Twitter account and here as well.

Let’s make Christmas a little brighter for our fellow Filipinos and keep including them in our prayers for strength…May the Lord bless us all!

UPDATE (as of 10:45pm tonight, Dec 8): Here’s another account where you can send your cash donations

Banco De Oro St Luke’s Bonifacio Global City branch # 0007010017856 Joanna Teresa L. Manalo

The bank accounts provided are from our fellow archies, @jackryan4DA and @nareejo. Again, we will update from time to time (as we do understand though this is for a noble cause, transparency matters… ^_^).

UPDATE (as of 10:55am today, Dec 10) Here’s a bank account where you can send your cash donations. In our opinion, this one would be the fastest and best way to transmit our help because it will be received directly on the affected area. This is the account of a school run by Kricket’s family in Davao.

STARCHILD INNOVATIVE LEARNING ACADEMY
# 860 315 509
BDO SM City Ecoland

Archies, let’s all unite and extend our help! God bless us all!
